Maple is the point of this machine. Most studio Pilates reformers at this level are built on metal profile, which is the right answer for a room where equipment is equipment. Maple is the right answer for a room clients photograph, sit in before class and judge you on. This is the one model in the Align-Pilates range where the wood is real structure rather than a trim panel, and the machine under it is rated for full studio use at 150kg.

The M8-Pro frame has no leg options. Bed height is 43cm and cannot be changed later. That is higher than most reformers, which suits clients who find a low carriage hard to get up from and does not suit a rehab room that needs to drop the bed. The machine also does not fold, stand on end or stack. Once it is built it lives where you put it, on a 254cm by 76cm footprint with walk around space wanted on at least three sides.

Why we carry this one

The honest comparison here is maple against the aluminium profile machines, and it is a room decision rather than a performance one. The C8-Pro is built on oversize aluminium profile, takes two leg heights, stands and stacks, and shrugs off the scuffs a busy timetable puts into a frame. The M8-Pro sits at one fixed height, stays where it is built, and looks like furniture while it does it. Both are rated to 150kg. Maple does not make the carriage run better. It makes the room better.

We point people at maple when the studio is small, the sessions are one to one or duet, and the client is in the room for an hour with nothing else to look at. We point them at aluminium when six machines run eight hours a day. If tower work is in the plan, the M8-Pro with Half Cadillac is the same reformer with the tower fitted from the factory, and that is worth settling before you order, because the M-Series bracket is drilled permanently into the frame.
